Internet Marketing

Welcome To The World Of Internet Marketing. We Shall Be Looking At Affiliate Marketing & Network Marketing. Which One Is For You?

WHAT IS INTERNET MARKETING ANYWAY?

Internet Marketing according to Google can be described in this way. Internet marketing, or online marketing, refers to advertising and marketing efforts that use the Web and email to drive direct sales via electronic commerce, in addition to sales leads from websites or emails.

I will add also that Internet Marketing is primarily the way that most companies or businesses today choose to offer their goods and services to consumers.

Most businesses use Internet Marketing for the following 2 reasons:

1. It is a cost-effective channel for marketing.
2. Media consumption trends have been moving towards the internet and therefore you can easily reach out to the masses using the online medium.

Some of the key types of Internet Marketing are as follows. While I shall list the types here, I shall at a later date examine each of these types or components in a detailed blog post.

So here are the key types or components:

1. S.E.O – Search Engine Optimization.

2. E-Mail Marketing.

3. Social Media Marketing.

4. Paid Advertising.

There are more components but these are the most widely used to build an audience and showcase your goods and services to potential customers on an ongoing basis.

How Do I Start Internet Marketing?

Here is a simple outline.

  1. Find a need and fill it.
  2. Write copy that sells.
  3. Design and build an easy-to-use website.
  4. Use search engines to drive traffic to your site.
  5. Establish an expert reputation for yourself.
  6. Follow up with your customers and subscribers with email.
  7. Increase your income through back-end sales and upselling.

Now while this may all seem to be fairly straight forward and easy, I can assure you it can be somewhat perplexing. But it is certainly doable.

Your ability to succeed with Internet Marketing lies in your coachability and your willingness to adopt a mindset geared for this environment.

Most people today including Baby Boomers (those born during the 60’s), and Millennials (those born after the 90’s) alike are looking to the Internet to make a living for themselves and their familes.

Traditional jobs which are fewer do not offer these classes of income seekers the time or money freedom they desire and so many opt to become entrepreneurs or associates of MLM (Multi Level Marketing) companies hoping to hit it big someday.

But unless you are prepared to work hard and possess the right work ethic and mindset, then you’ll most likely fail even before you get properly started.

Through my own experience and journey, it is my desire to help people navigate successfully, the challenges often encountered when embarking on a career path in Internet Marketing.

By exposing persons to the information needed to make intelligent and calculated decisions regarding online marketing, they can experience success faster, saving time and money.

Affiliate Marketing

According to Google, essentially, Affiliate Marketing involves a merchant paying a commission to other online entities, known as Affiliates, for referring new business to the merchant’s website. Affiliate Marketing is performance-based, which means affiliates only get paid when their promotional efforts actually result in a transaction.

With Affiliate Marketing, you can set your own hours and work at your leisure whether from the comfort of your own home or on a tropical getaway vacation. Wherever you have a laptop and an internet connection, you are in business.

Most marketers often lean to this platform to build their wealth online because with Affiliate Marketing, there are no overheads to consider, no staff to pay, no fulfillment of orders, no rent for a store, no stock to carry and so on. All you do is send traffic to the offer you are promoting and once sales occur the merchant to whom the products belong will then pay you a percentage of the sale or commission as it is most commonly called.

There are many programs out there where one can actually learn how to become a successful Affiliate Marketer and even generate a Six Figure Income if serious enough and does not treat the business as a hobby.

The Legendary Marketer is such a program and all the programs I mention are true, ,proven, legitimate programs. No fluff here. Quite a number of folks gravitate to a program called Wealthy Affiliate, which also teaches the fundamentals of affiliate marketing. Other notable programs are Super Affiliate and the list goes on.

Despite the perks, Affiliate Marketing however does have its drawbacks. Because it is primarily a performance based type of marketing, it means that unless you get sales daily, you could find yourself barely hanging on. Meaning that unless someone buys what you are selling you don’t make anything.

It does require hard work, but also very strategic marketing. The biggest drawback with Affiliate Marketing though is the fact that it can only provide what I call a “Me Income.” That is to say, only what you do as the affiliate contributes to your income, unlike Network Marketing and I’ll go into that in the next block.

Watch the following videos to get a better understanding of Affiliate Marketing and some of the other factors involved in using this medium to find success online.

NETWORK MARKETING

Network Marketing – When it comes to online marketing there are many variables, that is to say there are many options you can choose as to how you will make your money.

Some choose Affiliate Marketing as seen above and there are scores of offers and platforms you can use to help you become a success in that field.

We are however looking at Network Marketing which until recently had been given a very bad name due to many unscruptulous practices in the industry by associates and company owners.

Network Marketing is not the easiest of choices when it comes to pursuing an online career in marketing, but it can be the most lucrative and therefore should be strongly considered.

When you join an MLM (Multi Level Marketing) company, there are a number of points you need to pay attention to. For starters let me say now that networking is not an easy task, but it pays better. In a nutshell, we are told or advised to make a list generally of everyone you know.

Team Building

Then you reach out to everyone on that list to share what you are doing and to get people involved. While this has worked for many, it does leave some without friends at the end of the day.

With Networking as the term implies, you are involved basically with building a team. A team of like minded individuals like yourself, who share the same passions and goals.

The Right System For Duplication

Most Network Marketing companies have systems in place which help associates to properly identify their target market and carefully sort for the right people for their organisation.

Once a company has a solid duplicateable system in place for associates to follow, then success is more readily achieved and can easily be duplicated by the team one is building.

LEVERAGE

I will also add here that one of the most important perks associated with Networking is that your income is derived not just from your own personal efforts , but also that of your team. That’s Leverage working for you.

This is why Networking pays better. You leverage the ability to earn far more when it’s not just you contributing to your income as is the case with Affiliate Marketing.

With Network Marketing, even though there is a risk of more rejection than hearing a “YES” to your offer, it should be noted that every contact you make is a possible future “yes” even though you might have gotten a “NO” up front. Circumstances change and so do people’s minds.

Relationships

I’ll wrap up here by saying that with Network Marketing it is all about relationships. People most often will gravitate to whom they know, like and trust. The more you take interest in the lives, needs and well being of your prospects, they will be led to trust you and will want to do business with you.

Be reminded that essentially you are here to help solve problems. You are not here to sell. Work on your sorting skills and your mining skills as you seek worthy prospects, but you are still with a view to helping solve a problem or provide a solution for that which troubles them.

Your company whose product you are promoting may not actually help the issue, but the money that can be earned might.

So this is why you must take time to learn the facts and not be too quick to sell. In Network Marketing we don’t ever sell. At least not like in Affiliate Marketing where they need to rack up sales.

I hope this information has been of benefit to you and I will focus in more detail on the topics here in future blog posts.

Here are two powerful quotes from Microsoft founder Bill Gates:-

“If your business is not on the Internet, then your business will be out of business.”

His second quote is an acknowledgement to the business model of Networking.

“If I would be given a chance to start all over again, I would choose Network Marketing.”
